Being away from home, perhaps for the first time, is not always easy and can feel a little daunting. Here at Capital School of English we do all that we can to make that experience a little easier and less stressful. Capital School takes safeguarding very seriously and accept that we have a duty of care towards all our students and staff. We want everyone to feel safe, secure and happy during their stay in Cardiff - the well-being of our students is as important as their academic development.

At the school, we have an experienced and caring Welfare Director and support staff and all our teachers are trained in safeguarding and are DBS checked. The office is open 8am-5pm, Monday – Friday and we have an emergency phone number which is manned 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Outside school, our homestays are carefully selected and regularly re-inspected to ensure that your homestay experience is safe as well as enjoyable. All activities are led by trained support staff and complete risk assessments are carried out on all excursions and activities.

Under 18s

We know how important it is for parents to feel assured that their children are well looked after and we have special provision for under 18s. Our Welfare Director, Sally Pennington, is also our Designated Safeguarding Officer.

To ensure that under 18s are protected, there are a number of added provisions:

  • Parents must sign a consent form before enrolment, detailing their child’s needs and requirements
  • In addition to the usual checks that our homestays undergo, all homestays for under 18s are specially chosen and are DBS checked
  • All drivers, including coach drivers, are DBS checked

Our aim at Capital School of English is to make sure that our students are safe, secure and happy at all times and thoroughly enjoy their time with us here in Cardiff.

Our Safeguarding policy is available by clicking here.
