Capital social activities

Meeting other students, making friends, practising your English and having fun are as important as learning English in the classroom. We work to make the school a social hub for our students and staff.

Each week we run the following activities:

  • Gaming Tuesdays: each Tuesday from 2.45, we organise some kind of gaming activities. It might be a board game, computer game, bowling, a table tennis or table football competition in the school. Open to all current students. Some activities, such as bowling, carry a small charge to cover the cost.
  • Coffee Conversation: each Wednesday at 2:45, we go to a local cafe or pub to have a coffee and a chat! Open and free to all students, although you are expected to buy something to drink!
  • Sporty Thursdays: each Thursday from 2.45, we organise a more sporty activity. It might be five-a-side football, climbing, cycling or trampolining. The activity will carry a small charge
  • Social Fridays: each Friday from 12.30, we organise a small activity for all students. It might be a pot luck lunch, pancakes, seasonal part, a film and pizza afternoon or special event outside the building. Ask what is happening next week. Open to all students, and free of charge, although we do sometimes ask for contributions for food.

As well as these fixed activities, we regularly talk to students about what activities they want to do. These are then run by a group leader within the school and students should sign up and pay at reception. Prices are always kept as low as possible; if the school gets a discount, then you get a discount! Speak to a member of staff for current prices.

These activities can include:

And much more!

If you feel that you want to visit somewhere and it would be a good activity, please talk to reception and we are happy to help.
